Enemy strongholds can be infiltrated by using an arsenal to dominate London’s underworld. With Jacob as the leader, players can establish UK's fiercest gang, the only force that can challenge the elite and defeat rival gangs to bring freedom to the oppressed folks. Lead the underworld to reclaim London in an adventure filled with action, intrigue and brutal combat. As gangster killer Jacob Frye, you recruit a gang to fight for justice on behalf of the oppressed working class. An age of invention and wealth, built on the backs of the working class. Lead the underworld to reclaim London in an adventure filled with 1868 London. Abstergo would make for excellent antagonists with more characters like Cass and Otso Berg as enforcers. Bottom line: they agree that freedom good, tyranny bad.Ĭass's death scene is like a classic AC Templar assassination, same ideological banter. DedSec is actually a bit more politically extreme than the Assassins, leaning hard into left-libertarianism and frequently referencing anarchism while the Assassins are generally liberal republican but still plenty willing to work with monarchies. As hunted underground factions also they're both used to hiding in plain sight.ĭedSec is ideologically compatible with the Assassins. Verticality and viewpoints were also proven workable. Darcy still has her hidden blade but can now utilize building surveillance systems for recon, disrupt enemy comms in fights, etc. Instead of Abstergo goons with bows and batons, they have rifles, shotguns, combat drones, etc. It added AC content to an existing modern/near-future setting, meaning it plays like an actual modern setting with modern mechanics unlike ACs which have to work with a system built for pre-modern fights. Darcy was more interesting in one mission than Layla was for three games and she actually assassinates a Templar. It unironically already did modern AC better than every AC after Syndicate. ![]() That said, if you free the boroughs early and play without permadeath, the tone can feel closer to WD2's nonlethal pranks tone. Add the Orwellian aesthetic of keeping every borough oppressed until near the endgame, and the checkpoints plus goons beating people in the street gives a darker tone than the original. ![]() With Legion, especially in resistance mode where all the enemies are elite and notoriety is really easy to get, operatives can die pretty frequently. The first two games had about one allied death each with the second one glossing over getting attached to the character first. It's hard to sell an antagonist's stated motivation as "dead terrorists" without "terrorists" (allies) dying. ![]() I get people are used to Ace-of-all-trades characters like Aiden and Marcus but not being a super soldier was part of the appeal for me. I personally quite like the concept but I'm also the sort of person who likes old school Star Wars Battlefront trooper battles without 6 force users jumping around on both sides. It would be like Brotherhood except the focus is on the recruits instead of the super op Mentor. ![]()
